Lobby of Parliament.

On the 4th July we'll be going to Westminster to lobby Parliament along with hundreds of Dignity in Dying supporters to challenge MPs to face up to the current law. Help to challenge the status quo, sign up today and meet with your MP in person.

Programme & Details.

The lobby starts at Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEII, Broad Sanctuary, Westminster, London SW1P 3EE) with our AGM business. We will then move to the House of Commons where we hope as many people as possible will be able to meet their MPs. 

10.00am: Registration

11.00am: Formal business of the AGM including reports from Chief Executive Sarah Wootton, Chair Sir Graeme Catto and Treasurer Edward Turner. Patron Lord Joffe will look back on progress of the campaign to date.

11.45am: Presentations on:

  • The Commission on Assisted Dying – Lord Blair of Boughton (former commissioner)
  • The House of Commons Debate on Prosecuting Policy – Richard Ottaway MP (Conservative MP)
  • All Party Parliamentary Group on Choice at the End of Life – Heidi Alexander MP (All Party Group Chair)

12.15pm: Presentation Q&A

12.45pm: Lobby workshop with former MP Rob Hayward

1pm: Lunch, photos and meetings with MPs in Parliament.

3pm - 3.05pm: Welcome back by Sir Graeme Catto and Sarah Wootton

3.05 - 3.15pm: Speech by Dignity in Dying patron Zoë Wanamaker CBE

3.15 -3.50pm: Performance by Chris Larner, the actor whose biographical play ‘An Instinct for Kindness’ on accompanying his ex-wife to Dignitas won a Scotsman Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh festival. The show is touring the country, currently in the West End.

3.50-4pm: Speech by Dignity in Dying patron Sir Terry Pratchett OBE

4pm: Event close
